An Ideal Conductor
“Neue Zürcher Nachrichten”, Zurich, November 24, 1983

During his extensive guest-conducting periods, the young Israeli conductor Yoav Talmi - has once more proved how excellently he can get on with our Tonhalle Orchestra. Every time he comes, the usual weaknesses disappear, and the performances are most inspired. The revelation of the evening was in the second half of the program: Talmi conducted Bruckner's 3rd Symphony and the way in which he gave this monumental opus its structure was most fascinating: full of contrasts, excitement, exceptionally pure, rhythmical and dynamically colored; - and with the choice of correct tempi - this was an ideal rendering of the work.

…It was a great pleasure to hear the orchestra perform so well - at this level, it can definitely compete internationally.
