Yoav Talmi named 'Officier de l'Ordre national du Québec'
Monday, June 15, 2009 - Maestro Yoav Talmi, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Quebec Symphony, has just been named ‘Officer of the National Order of Quebec'. Nine other prominent personalities have been appointed officers of the order this year.
The Ordre National du Quebéc is an order of merit bestowed by the Government of Quebec. It is the most prestigious honor in Quebec and French America. The festive ceremony will take place at the Parliament Building in Quebec City on June 17.

In their press release, the Quebec Government stated:
Maestro Yoav Talmi is at the helm of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec since 1998. He brought the orchestra to the center of Quebec's cultural life. Under his dynamic and visionary artistic direction, the Quebec Symphony captured its place among the best artistic ensembles in Canada as well as abroad.
Talmi's long and impressive conducting career brought him to the great capitals of the world: London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam, Madrid, Rome, Warsaw, Budapest, Oslo, Stockholm, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, etc. He has recorded more than 20 discs with various companies around the globe and conducted televised concerts in Canada, The Netherlands, Spain. Belgium, Hungary and Russia.
Maestro Talmi was also recently appointed Head of Orchestral Conducting department at the Tel Aviv University Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, in collaboration with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
