The Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Yoav Talmi
Amsterdam Concertgebouw, April 13, 1980
…In the 5th Symphony of Mahler, Talmi manifested himself as a dedicated musician who knew to bring out all aspects of the work.
The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra reacted with an admirable virtuosity and dramatic presence to the gestures of the conductor.
These gestures touched the essence of Mahler's music making: the sinister warning, the wildness, the drops in sphere, the grotesque, the sudden melting of sentiment, the creeping humor and the sweeping playfulness: all these were shaped into the sound by Yoav Talmi without restraint and without disguise.
And thus came out the 5th Symphony with all its exciting qualities.
